SMART DRUGS:
ReplyDelete1) no long term test have been done to show the effects of these drugs on children younger than 6; doctors have started prescribing these pills as quick fixes so they dont have to conduct further treatment; prozac and ritalin have started being prescribed to kids between the age of 2 and 4.

2.) Well, they were stamps from different countries so, they didn't say anything about other names for the substances.
3.) No, not really. I just didn't know that different countries had different stamps on drugs.
MDMA
1.)MDMA gives off "intense joy or delight", it damges Nerve cells in the brain, and the drug is usually taken to relax a person.
2.) Some other names for this substance are: Dover, "E", Adam, and XTC.
3.) My opinion of the drug has changed because, now I have a better understanding on exactly what it can do to you.
LSD
1.) LSD is a drug that can alter the user's mood, cause the user to be in a dream-like state, and its a type of fungus.

3.)Well, I have neaver taken the drug and do not plan to but, if I did however got tricked or whatnot I would know what to do and not freak out too much.

1. it is approved for ages 6 and up, ritalin is being prescribed to children as young as 2, and studies suggest the drug can cause changes in the brain of young animals.

3. yes, i think the drug should not be used on 2 year olds if its not approved for people under six. that just seems wrong.
amphetamines:
1. amphetamines can cause the release of dopamine from axon terminals, it causes feelings of happiness and power, and many effects are similar to cocaine.

3 i never had an opinion on this but i didn't know the effects were similar to cocaine.
Smart Drugs:
ReplyDelete1) The effect of these drugs is unknown on young children, but has seen that it affects the brains of young animals. It is not advised to be used on children under the age of six because it alters the way the synapses work in their brains. It also says that there are an estimated of 12 million children with mental illnesses.
2)There aren't really any other names for these drugs besides "smart drugs"
3) I think this is kind of ridiculous. Parents should avoid just putting their child on a pill to make them act how they want, instead of actually taking the time to find out what the source of the problem is.
Acetaminophen:
1)I learned that as few as 8 pills of Acetaminophen can cause severe liver damage. I also learned that alcohol can speed up the liver damage and can make it worse. I also learned that many parents have to take their children to the emergency room for giving them children's acetaminophen vs. infant's strength.
2)Other names for this drug include Tylenol, Motrin and the like.
3) I never really knew this could be that dangerous. I'll definitely watch how much of this I take from now on. I don't want my liver to be damaged!
LSD:
1) I learned that this drug is actually found as a fungus on rye bread. I also learned that people develop a tolerance to LSD quickly and must increase their doses continually in order to produce the same effects of strangeness. I learned that the penalty for 1 gram of LSD is 5 years in prison.
2) It doesn't say any other names for this drug.
3) I think 5 years for one gram isn't enough. If people are dumb enough to get caught with it, then they deserve to rot in prison, basically.
CAFFEINE

1.) Theat mood disorders and ADHD, no studies have been done to see long-term effects, and rats that have been exposed to this drug have memory problems.

Heroin
1.) Seed pod of the poppy is cut and a juice flows out, can be injected of mixed with drinks, and it also causes depression of the central nervous system.

3)Yes it has. I dont really see how people especially some teenagers enjoy getting high off LSD. With all the different side effects that occur at once this feeling must be quite uncomfortable and even painful.
Nicotine
1)It enters the brain about eight secondds after inhaling or smoking. More than a 100 chemiclas is added to tobacco to make cigarettes. And you gave a faster resperation.

3)YES. There are about 100 different chemicals added to nicotine to make cigarettes. This is very bad for somone to be injesting so many chemicals into one's body. I find it ironic that all the effects and results are BOLDLY printed on the box and people still smoke.

3. I'm just very surprised that caffeine is really a drug. I didn't realize the strong effects it had on the body.

3. My opinion on the topic of alcohol has not changed because I knew the basis of this information just not the specifics. Plus I think alcohol consumption is ok when it is being done by responsible people who know their limits and aren't addicted to it.
CAFFEINE:
1.Caffeine can be lethal in massive doses, it takes about 6 hours for 1/2 of the caffeine to be eliminated from the body, and Americans consume about 45 million pounds of caffeine each year.

3. My opinion about caffeine has not really changed at all after reading about it. I guess I will try to cut down a bit on how much I drink but I was trying to do that anyways.
ACETAMINOPHEN:
1. At least 15,000 people are taken to the emergency room because of acetaminophen poisoning each year, less than 8 pills combined with alcohol can cause death, and at least 100 people die each year from adverse effects of taking too much acetaminophen.
2. Some other names for acetaminophen are Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, and aspirin.
3. This doesn't really change my opinion on taking acetaminophen because I have to take it everyday for my disease. But it does make me more aware of how much I'm taking.

1) Lsd was first made from a fungus. It was made with the intent that it would stimulate circulation and respiration. LSD is actually water soluble( which means it looks clear when mixed with water), odorless, colorless and tasteless drug.

- It really hasn't, I've always thought it was disgusting and harmful.
2)GHB: -Only takes minutes for user to loose all control. 58 deaths have been linked to GHB since 1990, and at least 5,700 overdoses. President Clinton passed a law making GHB illegal in 2000.

-Yes, I can see that it is more serious now than I did before.
